It seems the only additional information HP discovered during my support call was that the Windows Image Acquisition (WIA) service reports that it is running, and shouldn't be causing any issues. I have my printer connected to my wireless network. I have contacted HP Support, they were unable to help, and recommended contacting Microsoft.
